Artists
Todmorden Touchwood is a project
involving a group of artists, collaborating to tell a story of Todmorden.
The artists have each created "blogs" where you read about
them and how their work is progressing.
Various artists will help facilitate the project.
Poet, writer and performer Craig Bradley, former
reader-in-residence for Calderdale Libraries, will work on the writing
aspect.
Illustrator Graham Higgins, who’s
worked on a number of community projects in the past, as well as
providing the covers for some of Terry Pratchett’s books, will direct
the artwork.
Sound recorder Kate Davy, once
a history teacher at Todmorden High School, has extensive experience
working with community groups, and will ensure that their stories
are kept for posterity here.
Textile Artist Denise Oukhaba, will be working to give texture to our stories.
Writer Chris Nickson will be writing a book to be published on the completion of the project.
Storyteller Shonaleigh has a history
both as a performer and working with schools and community organisations.
She will help the different groups find their voices and weave their
new stories. Storyteller Peter Chand will be involved
in similar work.
Together they will listen, learn, and help Todmorden
create its new story.
